return to normalcy

The time after new year's is always strange. It takes me a while to adjust to having to work a full week again, with no pot of gold at the end besides the weekend. I'm convinced that that first Monday back from the holidays is the worst Monday on the calendar. Needess to say, here it is Thursday and I still haven't gotten back into the swing of working for the full 8 hrs (hence, this post!). I give myself til the end of january to shake my holiday hangover and begin the countdown til the next day off, President's Day. Ah, the rat race. The Shins have a great line in one of their songs, "the years have been short, but the days were long." I don't know the name of the song, though. I'm pretty slack when it comes to remembering song titles. Track 4 off chutes too narrow. I think. It is amazing how true that is, though. I basically count the minutes at work, but next thing you know it's another new year. Getting old is the worst, especially when you refuse to do it gracefully, like me. 26 is just round the corner...

Speaking of the Shins, this time of year is also apparently the slowest for finding any good shows to see. I guess everyone's shaking off the holiday rust. I'm dying to see them, though, as are a lot of people I'm sure. That CD (burned, I confess) hasn't left my cd player for more than a day or 2 at a time. It's definitely time for another CD buying binge, though. I think I earned it, I hooked people up with good gifts this Christmas, surely I can hook myself up.

Anyway, this is my first attempt at blogging or whatever. It's probably painfully obvious...and uninteresting.
